The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA), in partnership with the City of Brantford, is focused on helping grassland habitats make a comeback in southern Ontario. Grassland habitats support a number of grassland-specific bird species including the Eastern Meadowlark– a threatened species that has been recorded in and around the City of Brantford.
On September 12, the Grand River Conservation Foundation (GRCF) celebrated the rehabilitation of FWR Dickson Wilderness Area in North Dumfries. Thanks to a contribution of $93,500 from the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program, delivered by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, and matching funds from donors, work has been completed to rebuild the 150-metre boardwalk and 375-metre trail leading from the parking lot on Wrigley Road.

The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) board and OPSEU Local 259 representing approximately 110 Grand River Conservation Authority employees have voted to ratify a new collective agreement.
“We value the work and dedication of our employees and are pleased that we were able to reach an agreement without any disruption to our operation,” said Helen Jowett, GRCA board chair.

Residents in Wellington County can apply for grants to properly decommission old wells and upgrade wells that are still in use.
Funds are provided by Wellington County through the Wellington Rural Water Quality Program (RWQP).

Cover crops grown over the winter are just the right thing to do, according to some local producers who participated in the Haldimand Rural Water Quality Program (RWQP) and received an incentive payment last year.
The program offers a $20 per acre incentive on up to 50 acres to applicants in Haldimand County.
