The fifth annual Haldimand Children’s Water Festival at the Grand River Conservation Authority’s (GRCA) Taquanyah Nature Centre will help 500 elementary school students splash their way to a better understanding of water: where it comes from, how we use it, and how we can protect and conserve it.

Based on reports provided by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) and consultation with Region of Waterloo Public Health, there is no risk associated with the jet fuel spill contamination at Shade’s Mills reservoir. This includes recreational activities such as fishing, boating and swimming.

The day is designed for new anglers between 8 and 14, allowing them to try fishing for the first time, or to improve their skills.

Spend time outside with Mother Nature for free at Rockwood Conservation Area on Sunday, May 12 for Mother’s Day.

After a late start to spring, the Grand River Conservation Authority is offering free day-use admission for all visitors to Rockwood Conservation Area on Mother’s Day.

It may not quite feel like spring yet, but another sure sign of it is just around the corner. On Wednesday, May 1 the Grand River Conservation Authority swings open the gates for their 2019 camping and recreational season.

The April 2019 issue of Grand Actions has many stories from across the Grand River watershed.

The Grand River Conservation Authority annually installs warning booms or white buoys upstream of GRCA dams to warn paddlers, anglers and boaters to stay away from the dams.

This is one of many safety procedures developed by the GRCA to reduce the risk for people who enjoy water activities on local reservoirs and waterways.

The Grand River Conservation Authority is hosting a free workshop on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, where Forestry Specialists will be speaking about ways for landowners to protect and enhance the natural features on their properties. The event will take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Wellington County Museum and Archives (0536 Wellington Rd. 18, Fergus ON).

There are still spots available for March Break Adventure Day Camp at nature centres in Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph and Brantford.

Camp activities from March 11 to 15 may include snow shoeing, snow sculptures, animal tracking, feeding the chickadees and campfires.
