    Cover crops grown over the winter on agricultural fields just make sense, according to local producers who participated in the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) Rural Water Quality (RWQP) program and received an incentive payment last year.

  • Work on Brantford dike to resume August 19th

    Work on the dike and river channel along the Grand River downstream of Veterans Memorial Bridge in Brantford is expected to get underway on Monday, August 19th and will take approximately 4 weeks to complete. The project began in the fall of 2018 and is about 75% complete. Periodic high river levels and ice conditions along the river resulted in delays due to limited accessibility.

    The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) will be hosting the first Public Information Centre for the New Hamburg Flood Mitigation Study on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the New Hamburg Community Hall (251 Jacob Street, New Hamburg).

    Samantha Lawson has been appointed the new Chief Administrative Officer of the Grand River Conservation Authority. The announcement was made at the GRCA General Membership meeting on May 24, 2019 by GRCA Chair Helen Jowett.

  • GRCA granted federal funding for New Hamburg Flood Mitigation Study

    The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) is undertaking a Flood Mitigation Study for New Hamburg in Wilmot Township, thanks to a $90,000 grant from the federal National Disaster Mitigation Program (NDMP). The NDMP grant will contribute up to 50 per cent of the project’s funding, with the remaining amount to be funded through the GRCA’s land sale reserves. The project is expected to cost approximately $180,000.
