COVID-19

Like all businesses and organizations in the province of Ontario, the GRCA continues to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and our highest priority remains the health, safety and well-being of our staff and the community.

We will continue to monitor the situation and update this page with new information when necessary.

When visiting a GRCA property, please follow local public health guidance, posted signage and stay home if you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. View up-to-date health guidelines on the Province's website.

Information and resources

On this page, you will find more information and resources about how the COVID-19 pandemic is impacting our operations.

GRCA Administration Centre

The Grand River Conservation Authority Administration Centre is open to the public. Please see our administration centre hours page for more information about hours of operation.

Grand River Conservation Areas

Grand River Conservation Areas are open to the public, however capacity continues to be managed to enhance the experience for our guests. Please visit our conservation areas page for complete information on locations, hours of operation, and available facilities. Visit our conservation areas status update page for real-time information on capacity and available activities.

GRCA Nature Centres

Due to changes to the Conservation Authorities Act and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, our outdoor environmental education program is under review and most of our public programs remain suspended. Our school program has resumed with limited offerings. For more information, please visit our nature centres page.

GRCA Conservation Lands and Trails

Most GRCA conservation lands and all GRCA trails are open to the public. In the event one of our properties is closed, information will be shared on our service disruptions page and signs will be posted at primary access points.

General Membership Meetings

The regular GRCA General Membership meeting schedule is being maintained with meetings held virtually and streamed live on our Board Webcast [link "Board Webcast" to Board Webcast page] page. Members of the public are invited to watch the meetings online.

The GRCA board meets monthly, usually on the fourth Friday of the month beginning at 9:30 a.m. The board agendas, reports and minutes are available in our board meeting calendar.

If you wish to appear as a delegation, please submit written comments at least eight days prior to the scheduled meeting, in order for written submission to be included in the published agenda.

Any written submissions received less than 8 days, but more than 48 hour prior to the meeting will be distributed to the board and received at the scheduled meeting; however, they will not be published in the online agenda.

If you are unable to submit written comments and would prefer to appear virtually as a delegation, please contact us.

Permits

We continue to accept permit applications through our online permit application system, however, due to an increased volume of applications being received, complete applications for GRCA permits may take between 4-6 weeks to process. Hard copy permit applications may still be submitted to the GRCA Administration Centre.

Volunteer Program

The GRCA volunteer program remains suspended at this time.
