Taquanyah

This 136-hectare property has a network of trails through forests and near wetlands and the coldwater Mill Creek. There are interpretive signs along the trail to help you understand more about the property.

  • The property is in the Carolinian zone, which means it has species that are normally found much further south in the U.S.A.
  • The area is located at Townline Road West and Decewsville Road, just west of Cayuga. There is a parking area on Decewsville Road (Map).
  • In 2005, a dam and large reservoir were taken out of operation. After that, the area was restored with the addition of new wetlands, ponds and trails. Trees and shrubs were planted. The project was a joint effort of the GRCA, Ducks Unlimited CanadaSix Nations of the Grand River, the Haldimand Stewardship Network and others. The Grand River Conservation Foundation raised money for the project. Lead sponsors were the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Ron and Nancy Clark Foundation.
