Species checklists

We use many sources of information to generate species checklists for our watershed. These sources include natural area inventory reports, environmental impact studies, online databases, species status reports, species recovery reports and local experts. In addition, our staff occasionally conduct biological inventories on GRCA land to help assess the effectiveness of restoration and enhancement actions and to help inform management decisions.

According to iNaturalist, a variety of plants and animals have been reported in our watershed, including:

  • 3914 insects
  • 1962 plants
  • 815 fungi
  • 328 birds
  • 179 spiders
  • 78 fishes
  • 78 mollusks
  • 49 mammals
  • 20 amphibians
  • 19 reptiles

This list is based on research grade observations available on iNaturalist. For further details, please contact the GRCA’s Natural Heritage department.
