Grand River Cover Crop Program

The 2023-2024 intake for this program is now closed.

We have financial incentives of up to $1,500 for farmers to plant cover crops. Planting cover crops is an enhanced cropland management activity that helps prevent greenhouse gas emissions and increases carbon sequestration.

Project sites must be located within the Grand River watershed.

Even if you have received previous funding for cover crops through the Rural Water Quality Program, please contact us again as you may be eligible for additional funding for new or different projects through this program.

The program is undertaken with the financial support of the Nature Smart Climate Solutions Fund, a Government of Canada Department of Environment and Climate Change program, in partnership with Conservation Ontario.
