Upcoming GRCA Workshop – Understanding Your Forests

The Grand River Conservation Authority is hosting a complementary workshop on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Glen Morris Centennial Hall (17 Dunbar St, Glen Morris ON, NOB 1W0). As part of the workshop, participants will be guided through a walk at a local forest tract.

This free morning event is geared towards rural landowners with properties greater than 2.5 acres. A broad range of topics will include forest management, invasive species, grant opportunities, tree care, pruning and supporting wildlife habitat. The workshop will answer questions about managing trees and the dynamic approaches of maintaining and improving woodlots.

This event will also introduce funding available through the Brant Rural Water Quality Program to encourage good forestry practices in small woodlots. Landowners with forests less than 4 hectares in size are eligible for 50 per cent funding for the creation of a forest management plan. Additional funding is available for invasive forest species control, tree planting and more.

Participation is free but registration is required. Participants should dress for the weather, as part of the workshop will be outdoors. To register visit: https://understandingyourforests.eventbrite.ca, email ruralwater@grandriver.ca or call 519-621 2763, ext. 2278.
