Managing Trees Workshop to be held October 2

The Grand River Conservation Authority is hosting a Managing Trees Workshop in Haldimand County alongside staff from Haldimand County, Long Point Region Conservation Authority, Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority and the Haldimand Stewardship Council.

The workshop will help landowners develop skills and strategies to maintain and improve trees on their property. Staff will also talk about creating and maintaining wetlands and reducing erosion.

This free evening is geared toward urban and rural landowners in Haldimand County. A broad range of topics will be covered including tree planting, tree by-law updates, Haldimand County’s street tree program, wetlands and erosion, as well as funding programs to help with the cost of local projects.

The workshop will take place on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Ruthven Park National Historic Site, located at 243 Highway 54, Cayuga.

Landowners with properties greater than five acres may also be eligible for funding to support tree planting or wetland creation projects. Priority is given to projects in areas directly adjacent to watercourses.
