Chris White and Sue Foxton to lead GRCA Board for another term
Chris White, Mayor of Guelph-Eramosa Township and Councillor in Wellington County, and Sue Foxton, Mayor of North Dumfries Township, have been acclaimed, continuing their roles as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Grand River Conservation Authority.
Both White and Foxton were acclaimed by the GRCA Board of Directors at the General Membership meeting on Friday, January 28. Elections are held for both positions at the first board meeting each year. The 26-member GRCA Board is comprised of representatives appointed by the municipalities within the Grand River watershed.
“The role of conservation authorities remains critical in Ontario. The GRCA is a leading watershed management agency and, despite the challenges over the past few years, we remain focused on the health, wellness and sustainability of our communities,” says Chris White. “I look forward to leading our board, working with all levels of government and supporting GRCA staff as we implement the changes to the Conservation Authorities Act.”
During the meeting, both the Chair and Vice-Chair shared praise toward fellow board members and GRCA staff for their dedication and contributions in the stewardship of the water and natural resources within the Grand River watershed.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to support the GRCA board, staff and the communities we serve, as we work together to achieve our shared vision of a healthy watershed where people live, work, play and prosper in balance with the natural environment.” says Sue Foxton.
Chris White has been a member of the GRCA Board since 2014. He was elected to the Guelph/Eramosa Township Council in 2003, became Mayor in 2006 and served as Warden from 2011-2014.
Sue Foxton has been a member of the GRCA Board since 2015. She served for 14 years as Councillor for Ward 1 in North Dumfries Township before being elected as Mayor in 2014.
