  • Upcoming GRCA Workshop – Understanding Your Forests

The Grand River Conservation Authority is hosting a complementary workshop on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 9 a.m. to noon, at the Glen Morris Centennial Hall (17 Dunbar St, Glen Morris ON, NOB 1W0). As part of the workshop, participants will be guided through a walk at a local forest tract.

  • Cover crop funding available across the Grand River watershed

This year, farmers across every municipality in the Grand River watershed are eligible to apply for cover crop incentives through funding from the Nature Smart Climate Solutions Fund, a Government of Canada’s Department of Environment and Climate Change program in partnership with Conservation Ontario.

  • Cover crop funding available throughout the Grand River watershed

Cover crop funding has been available to farmers in the counties of Brant, Dufferin, Haldimand, Waterloo, and Wellington for many years through municipally funded Rural Water Quality Programs (RWQP). The program, administered by the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA), has provided over 400 producers with financial incentives to introduce cover crops on more than 30,000 acres in the Grand River watershed.

  • Grants available for well projects in the Grand River watershed

Grants are available to support homeowners and farmers in the Grand River watershed who are interested in well projects on their property.

“Wells need to be maintained properly and tested regularly in order to provide safe drinking water, and to protect groundwater resources” says Louise Heyming, Supervisor of Conservation Outreach at the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA).

  • Farm grant program partners with local municipalities to support farmers

The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA), in partnership with local municipalities, supports farmers who want to help improve and protect water quality in the Grand River watershed. The GRCA’s Rural Water Quality Program (RWQP), funded by Wellington, Brant, Oxford, Haldimand and Dufferin counties, and the Region of Waterloo, supports projects that help producers make their farms more resilient, while helping improve downstream water quality.

  • Funding available for living snow fences in Dufferin County

As temperatures get cooler and winter approaches, residents in the northern portions of the Grand River watershed still have an opportunity to plan for a living snow fence project next spring.

The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) and Dufferin County support living snow fence tree planting projects in priority locations along county roads.

  • More than $20 million invested to support water quality improvement projects by farmers in Waterloo Region

Farmers in Waterloo Region have reached a milestone in making farm improvements to protect water quality. As of December 2020, more than $20 million in total capital projects have been completed through support from the Region’s Rural Water Quality Program (RWQP).

  • Farmers can apply now for cover crop incentives

Cover crops grown over the winter on agricultural fields just make sense, according to local producers who participated in the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) Rural Water Quality (RWQP) program and received an incentive payment last year.

  • Cover crops – Just the right thing to do

Cover crops grown over the winter are just the right thing to do, according to some local producers who participated in the Haldimand Rural Water Quality Program (RWQP) and received an incentive payment last year.

The program offers a $20 per acre incentive on up to 50 acres to applicants in Haldimand County.
